About the railway

The image above shows the full Teifi Valley Railway route map.

The Teifi Valley Railway is a narrow gauge line that occupies part of the former trackbed of the Great Western Railway branch line which ran from Llandyssul to Newcastle Emlyn. The original railway closed in 1973.

The narrow gauge line was built in stages by volunteers between 1983 and 2006.

Trains currently run from Henllan, through Forest Halt, to Pontprenshitw. The narrow gauge line beyond Pontprenshitw to Llandyfriog Riverside requires extensive restoration before trains can run again.
